Paul A. Nierengarten, MATS is a systematic theologian in the field of early Christian theology; specifically, extant texts such as the Apostolic Fathers and their use of Scripture in communicating theological ideas. His interpretive method employs a historical critical and social scientific approach.
Paul also has interests in the cultural background of the Ancient Near East and the Dead Sea Scrolls believing it illuminates our understanding of our faith, our history, and the theology passed down through the ages.
Paul’s calling is to aid the Church in “faith seeking understanding” (fides quaerens intellectum) as Anselm of Canterbury once said.
“to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the Saints”
Jude 3, ESV
Under the leadership of the late Bishop Elmer Alexander, Paul was trained as a minister at United Deliverance Temple in North Minneapolis, received ministerial, and pastoral credentials from Byron D. Alexander, Sr. at United Nations Church, Inc. and Open Ministry.
The mission is to further the understanding of our faith, holding fast to the truth that has been passed down from the faithful men and women before us, and as the Apostle Paul said to Titus, to
“teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.”
Titus 2:1, ESV
